By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Cristiano Ronaldo accompanied Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, to the White House for a high-profile meeting with former US President Donald Trump — a rare intersection of global politics, business power and sporting celebrity.
The football star, who has become a central figure in Saudi Arabia’s global sports strategy since joining the Saudi Pro League in 2023, attended the talks as part of the Crown Prince’s delegation. His presence signalled Riyadh’s continued use of international icons to bolster its diplomatic and cultural influence.

The discussions, held earlier this week, centred on US–Saudi relations, regional security and ongoing economic cooperation. Ronaldo’s participation added an unexpected touch of star power, drawing global media attention to the meeting.

A White House dinner was also hosted in honour of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, featuring a notable guest list that included some of the world’s most influential business and tech leaders. Confirmed attendees were:
Donald Trump, President of the United States
Cristiano Ronaldo
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla
Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone
Donald Trump Jr., Executive Director of the Trump Organisation
Michael Dell, Founder and CEO of Dell
The gathering underscored Saudi Arabia’s strategy of blending diplomacy with global celebrity appeal. As analysts observed, the event showcased how modern geopolitics increasingly merges statecraft with star power.
