In a candid conversation with Taymesan on the Tea With Tay podcast, British writer Slumflower shared her blunt but thought-provoking views on dating, men, and financial stability in relationships.

Slumflower explained that dating men with limited financial resources can be challenging. “Unfortunately, when a poor man loves you, your life is horrible because poor men are very cranky, very, very, very irritable.

“They feel insecure because they can’t provide, and their biggest fear is that you’ll meet a man who can. This can make them controlling, insecure, and absolutely insufferable to be around,” she said.

She stressed that financial stability should come first, advising men to focus on their own growth before pursuing relationships.

“Poor men don’t have to be in relationships. Go and focus on work, building something for yourself. Use that time to build yourself, not dating. Dating isn’t mandatory for the human experience. You don’t have to date it’s an activity you choose to opt into.”

Slumflower also emphasized that men have a responsibility if they choose to date. “If you’re opting into dating, you need to have expenses allocated because you must be able to contribute.

“Dating as a poor man is problematic because you have nothing to offer a woman that she can’t do for herself.”

She concluded with a reminder about the inherent risks in relationships.

“It’s in a woman’s interest to always consider what a man can do for her, because any man could potentially kill her whether he’s rich, poor, successful, or famous. All men present risks; we just don’t know which one.”
