President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly appointed Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has taken over from outgoing Chief of Staff Ibrahim Gambari.

At the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the handing-over event was observed by Tinubu and other high officials late on Monday night.

Following the passing of his predecessor Abba Kyari in April 2020, Gambari served in the role until 2023.

As Tinubu’s chief of staff, Gbajabiamila must manage the movement of people and information while also giving the president advice on crucial matters.

President Olusegun Obasanjo established the job in 1999, emulating the White House Chief of Staff.

The Office of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) will immediately assign Gbajabiamila a task. Additionally, he will oversee the presidency.

Gbajabiamila released a statement expressing his thanks shortly after his appointment became official, putting an end to weeks of rumours.

“After serving in the Nigerian Parliament for the past 20 years and being elected to the National Assembly for a sixth term, I will assist Mr President in completing the great task that lies ahead of him for the stability and advancement of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

My”I shall give my best when I take office on June 14, 2023, as reflected in Mr President’s official letter,” he declared.
