Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has spoken once again about his strong attachment to Nigeria while reflecting on freedom and life abroad.
In a recent interview, when asked how he feels about living in America compared to Nigeria, the “Common Person” crooner replied, “I like freedom, and the definition of freedom is in my country.”
He explained that while he enjoys some aspects of living in the United States, he does not feel entirely free there. “I can never be fully free here, if I could though,” he said, adding humorously, “Because all the best men I know end up in jail, and that’s not what I’m trying to do.”
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, is known for his outspoken views and pride in African identity. The Afro-fusion star has built a global following with hits that blend Afrobeat, reggae, and dancehall, often using his platform to address issues of freedom, culture, and self-expression.
