CDC chair, Ebimowei petitions AIG zone 16 over threat, cyber stalking, defamation by some persons in Amatu ll community in Bayelsa

The chairman of the community Development Committee (CDC) in Amatu ll Community, in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State MR. PETER EBIMOWEI DAVID has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, zone 16, Bayelsa State over what he described as a threat to life, cyber stalking, defamation by some persons in the Amatu community in Bayelsa State.
The petition which was written by the chambers of DEINMOBOWEI 0.S. ABILA ESQ, AICMC said the attention of their client was drawn to a publication purportedly captured on Briga Media, on the social media captioned “AMANANAWEI OF AMATU II COMMUNITY ENDORSES EWEREIKUMO JOSEPH AS INTERIM CDC CHAIRMAN” while the tenure of the MR. PETER EBIMOWEI DAVID was scheduled to expire in January, 2026.
According to his lawyer, the office of their client had received severe harassment from one Mr Berry Negerese, Edesemi Government, Pere Clarkowei, Dennis Ebifiagbene and Akpo Sampson and others who vowed to interfere and interrupt the peaceful co-existence of their client office and the community on what they described as a pursuit of selfish interest.
However, Ebimowei through his lawyer has called on the Nigerian Police force to take note of the harassment and take necessary actions to initiate the immediate arrest, investigation and prosecution of the suspects involved in the afore-captured act in the best interest of the peace in the community.
The petitioner also called on the office of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state to intervene in the swift resolution of the underlying crises that plagued the community as initiated by certain unscrupulous agents in the community.
The petition reads, “We act as solicitors to MR. PETER EBIMOWEI DAVID of Amatu II, Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State (hereinafter referred to as our Client) and have his firm instructions to write your office on the above subject matter
as follows;
“1. That the attention of our client has been drawn to a publication purportedly captured on Briga Media, on the social media captioned AMANANAWEI
OF AMATU II COMMUNITY ENDORSES EWEREIKUMO JOSEPH
AS INTERIM CHAIRMAN'” and that it is based on the supposed
publication that we write accordingly.
“2. That the information hereunder captured is the same recited to us by our client which we verily believe and hereunder submit accordingly:
a. That our client is the chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Amatu II Community, in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and same took effect in the month of January 2024, when our client was properly elected and introduced to the community from his cluster to represent the community as chairman of the Community Development Committee, same tenure which is scheduled to expire in January, 2026 as the tenure of the chairman of the CDC in the community
is marked for two years.
“b. That our client is the son of Mr Radio, of Amatu II Community, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, a bonafide son and indigene of the Amatu II Community by birth, as his parents are well known to the Amatu lII community.
“C. Since his assumption of office as Chairman of Amatu II Community,
our client has done nothing but served the Amatu II community with love and due diligence.
“d. That the office of our client has received severe harassment from one Mr Berry Negerese, Edesemi Government, Pere Clarkowei, Dennis Ebifiagbene and Akpo Sampson and others who vowed to interfere and interrupt the peaceful co-existence of our client as a result of their selfish interest.
“e. That the efforts of the above names to interrupt the activities of our client have been cautioned by a Leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo popularly known as G.0.C Tompolo who stepped in to ensure the resolution of the pending conflicts where it was directed that the parties maintain status quo and our client be allowed to complete his tenure
as the chairman of the Community Development Committee in Amatu II community, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.
“f. That the names captured in paragraph D above are currently being sought
after by the Nigerian police Force and have been in hiding over the last few months after their invitation to the police for which they have refused to make themselves available.
“g. That the recent publication, which is a mastermind of the afore-captured
players is fictitious, malicious and all in a bid to harass the office of our client.
“h. That the supposed initiator of the endorsement of another as the Chairman of Amatu II community, HH Eric Ebifiegbene, is not even a gazetted paramount ruler of the community, neither is he recognized by the Bayelsa State Government as the Paramount Ruler of the community.
“i. That the election of our client as Chairman of the CDC was upon
presentation by his quarter (The Ebiribodo Quarter) as it is the turn of his quarter to present the chairman of the Community CDC, therefore other individuals from another quarter cannot represent the community in the CDC within the prescribed tenure of our client.
“j. That there has never been a time when the community membership
gathered over the chairmanship of our client neither has our client been suspended as no one has the right or authority to unilaterally suspend the serving chairman of the community development committee, so elected by the community.
k. That office of the chairman is not the unilateral appointment of any
member of the community.
“1. That our client is not aware of any complaint over his office, or any
resolution of any complaint over his office warranting the malicious
publication.
That all parties are necessary in the interface with the Amatu II community, particularly the Renaissance Africa Energy Company and all other companies operating in the region are to note the malicious post of a deviant in the community and desist from forming folds with the deviant
parties the same will not be in the best interest of companies operating in the region.
“n. The Nigerian Police force is called to take note of the harassment on the person and office of our client and take necessary actions to initiate the immediate arrest, investigation and prosecution of the suspects involved in the afore-captured act in the best interest of the peace in the community
“0. We also call on the office of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state to
intervene in the swift resolution of the underlying crises plagued the
community as initiated by certain unscrupulous agents in the community”.
