Chelsea Accepts Monaco’s Offer To Acquire France Defender Disasi

By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
Chelsea and Ligue 1 team Monaco have reached an agreement for the defender Axel Disasi to join them.
The 25-year-old will be another option to replace injured countryman Wesley Fofana at Stamford Bridge after agreeing to a contract reportedly worth 45 million pounds ($49.58 million).
Disasi is anticipated to face competition for the centre-defender spot from Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill, while another Frenchman, Benoit Badiashile, is getting ready to make his season-opening hamstring injury recovery.
After having ACL repair surgery in July, Fofana is expected to miss a significant portion of the season.
Disasi, who has four appearances and was initially selected for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, made his France debut in the 1-0 loss to Tunisia in the group stage.
Chelsea’s 12th-place finish in the rankings last season, their worst since 1994, has them aiming to turn things around under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
