Chief David Lyon Endorses Tinubu for 2027, Pledges “Total Support”

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, Chief David Lyon, has thrown his full weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid for 2027, declaring his support as “paramount and total.”

Lyon made the declaration when he hosted the leadership of the Tompolo One Million Youth Movement for President Tinubu 2027 at his Abuja residence. The delegation, led by National Coordinator Snr. Comrade Saturday David, visited Lyon to rally support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

“We must all give support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. Mr. President has done a lot, and four years will not be enough for him to restructure and transform Nigeria. My support for President Tinubu’s re-election is paramount and total at all times,” Lyon said, while also reaffirming his solidarity with his amiable friend and brother, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo Oweizide, popularly known as Tompolo, in endorsing the President.

Comrade Saturday David, speaking on behalf of the group, commended Lyon for his warm reception and assured him of the Movement’s commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders nationwide to ensure a resounding victory for Tinubu in 2027.

Lyon’s endorsement comes despite his recent suspension from the APC, alongside Senator Heineken Lokpobiri and other party leaders, over alleged anti-party activities. Political analysts note that his open support could further strengthen pro-Tinubu forces in the Niger Delta, where Tompolo’s influence remains significant.

While President Tinubu has advised supporters to avoid early campaign activities and to operate within party guidelines, endorsements from governors, lawmakers, and grassroots mobilizers have been mounting in recent months. The APC leadership is seen to be consolidating its base ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2027 general election.
