Chief Ebis Moni Condemns Reps’ Ultimatum, Sponsored protests against PAP Administrator
By Monday Peters, Abuja
The pioneer chairman of Meinbutus freedom fighters in Warri, Delta State Chief Ebis Moni, has strongly condemned the 72-hour ultimatum issued by the House of Representatives’ Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), threatened to issue a warrant for his arrest, noting that they relate to a period before his tenure began in 2024.
Chief Moni, the Sukerewei of Operemor Kingdom, had advised the House Committee to tread with caution in applying the National Assembly’s oversight powers to a programme such as the PAP.
Moni equally dismissed allegations made by Mr. Jude Gbaboyor against Dr. Otuaro, describing them as baseless and malicious. He insisted that Dr Otuaro is not a murderer, ritualist, and kidnapper as circulated on Facebook, adding that the general public should disregard such baseless allegations.
Chief Moni accused the House Committee of misleading the public and pursuing a politically motivated agenda, stressing that the Presidential Amnesty Programme is a special security initiative established under the President’s exclusive constitutional powers.
Dr. Otuaro has been credited with sending thousands of PAP delegates to school and engaging critical stakeholders to sustain peace in the Niger Delta. Chief Moni warned that threatening Dr. Otuaro’s arrest risks destabilizing the fragile peace in the region and poses a grave threat to national security.
The Sokerewei described the House of Representatives’ actions to be selective aggression against the Ijaw people and the wider Niger Delta, and urged caution to avoid triggering anger or destabilizing the region, maintaining that house of reps should be concerned about national issues such as terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping in the country.
