By Osaro Michael, Benin
Renowned Niger Delta Leader and activist Chief Ebis Moni, the Sukereowei 1 of operemor kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has marked his birthday celebration on 15th September, 2025, while commenting High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, High Chef Dennis Brutu Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and High Chief Kestin Pondi MD Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for their selfless sacrifices and contributions towards the development and unity of the Niger Delta region.
The former freedom fighter, Moni said history would be kind to the trio for the liberation of the Ijaw nation and Niger Delta region from the chronic marginalization, neglect and oppression from enemies of the region.
While thanking God for good health and protection during his birth anniversary, Moni said as a well- meaning critical stakeholder of Niger Delta, he would continue to support and would be ever grateful to Dr Tompolo, Dr Otuaro and Chief Kestin Pondi for their commitment towards changing the negative and ugly narratives of the Ijaw people and Niger Delta region.
He said his birthday celebration would be incomplete if he failed to acknowledge Dr Tompolo, Dr Otuaro and High Chief Kestin Pondi for standing for the Ijaw nation and Niger Delta, adding that things would have got worse if not for the trio standing for freedom for the oppressed people.
His words, “I’m very happy to see that we have people who have the interest of Ijaw nation and Niger Delta at heart, I knew Tompolo before the Niger Delta struggle for self-determination started, as at that time many Ijaws were not bold enough to speak Ijaw language publicly and display Ijaw ethnicity publicly, but back at then Dr Tompolo was very proud and bold to portray the Ijaw nation everywhere and speak Ijaw publicly. He always shows interest and contributes to Ijaw activities.
“Equally, Dr Dennis Otuaro too was part of the struggle from the beginning, no one would be more involved in the struggle than Dr Otuaro, he played his role unwavering. So when he became the PAP boss, as critical stakeholders, we were very happy. He has effected several positive changes and created much impact on the programme. Dr Otuaro as administrator of the presidential Amnesty programme, he doesn’t discriminate, he has greater respect for both small and big, including stakeholders who started and fully participated in the struggle. I am happy birthday he never disappoint us, the confidence we repose on him when he was appointed as administrator of the presidential Amnesty programme, he keeps maintaining it. I’m proud of him, he is articulate, creating powerful reforms, building bridges and uniting the people of Niger Delta region. I commend him for all the stakeholders’ meetings across the Niger Delta leadership. I commend him for resolving every concern of the Niger Delta ex-agitators. He is dedicated to serving his people and Niger Delta region. Again, l thank him for the previous and current deployment of students under the program to foreign and home universities. He will continue to have my support. I encourage him to do more, and that his efforts will not go unnoticed. I truly commend his efforts.
“The same goes for High Chief Kestin Pondi, he is the biggest philanthropist in Niger Delta, he is so engrossed with humanitarian services, this is the biggest task most of our leaders are running away from. As MD of Tantita Security Services he does his best to carry everybody along irrespective of class. I’m proud of him, he wins my heart for empowering youth, women, elders, students and leaders. I truly applaud their efforts towards making the Ijaw nation and Niger Delta great. I use this opportunity to commend all their efforts to the Ijaw nation and Niger Delta. Our rivers are clean and aquatic lives are safe now, and fishing occupation is restored for our fathers and mothers. They save many lives from horrible deaths for putting a stop to local refining of crude oil, and our riverine areas are very safe and peaceful today because of their collective efforts. The issues of sea-piracy, kidnapping and robbery have been put to stop by their efforts. Ijaw nation and Niger Delta people are owing them appreciation, we should endeavor to always appreciate them at all times”, he added.
