The Arewa Take-It-Back Movement (ATIB) has condemned the Federal Government over what it described as a disastrous failure to prevent and respond to the abduction of 24 schoolgirls in Maga, Kebbi State. In a strongly worded statement, the group accused the Tinubu administration of presiding over a worsening security landscape, saying the incident reflects a “catastrophic collapse of intelligence, coordination, and political responsibility.”

According to ATIB, security officials had reportedly received early warnings about criminal activities in the area but failed to act decisively, allowing armed men to storm the school unchallenged. The group argued that the continuous pattern of kidnappings across northern states shows that the government has not developed an effective strategy to protect vulnerable communities, especially children. It further demanded an immediate overhaul of the nation’s security architecture and urgent action to ensure the safe rescue of the missing girls.
