The Tindamba neighbourhood of Bertoua, in Cameroon’s East Region, witnessed an extraordinary act of courage on Saturday, 20 September, when a hospital cleaner saved a young child from what could have been a fatal accident.

Congress News Nigeria learnt that 3-year-old Aboubacar Sidiki had accidentally fallen into a well measuring almost 27 metres in depth, sparking panic among residents who gathered in shock and desperation.

Amid the commotion, Tchouaffa Song Bosco, a cleaner at the Bertoua Regional Annex Hospital, stepped forward. Without protective gear or specialised equipment, he climbed down into the well and managed to bring the boy back to safety, drawing applause and relief from onlookers.

Aboubacar was immediately reunited with his parents, Mr Youba and Mrs Ndangue Mballa Raïssa, who described Bosco as nothing short of a hero. “He risked his life to save our son,” they said, expressing heartfelt gratitude for his selfless bravery.

Local residents have since praised Bosco’s quick response and fearlessness, noting that his intervention prevented what could have been a devastating tragedy for the family and the wider community.
