Cleric Vows to Sue Nigerian Government at ICC Over Plateau Killings
By Diafa Doubra,
A Plateau-based cleric, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, has vowed to drag the Nigerian government before the International Criminal Court (ICC) over what he described as ongoing genocide and targeted attacks on Christians in the state. Speaking to reporters after a recent spate of violence, Rev. Dachomo accused the government of turning a blind eye to repeated killings and destruction of communities by armed groups.
The cleric claimed that gunmen invaded several villages during a church service, setting buildings ablaze and burning worshippers alive. He described the attacks as part of a coordinated campaign to wipe out Christian communities in the region. According to him, the security forces have failed to act decisively despite repeated reports and distress calls.
Rev. Dachomo said his team is gathering evidence to file a petition at the ICC, urging international intervention to hold those responsible accountable. He also appealed to global human rights organizations and the Christian community to speak up against what he called “a silent war” in Plateau State.
