Speaking during the event, the community chairman stated, “My duty is to bring development to the community but I need the government sector to come to our aid because this is an oil producing community, and it’s an old community in this OML 42 and OML 30 TFP Line.
“We are not happy because none of the companies in this area have looked into this community’s plight. We need development, as chairman I can’t do everything. We need people who will go to bring the development. People who will talk to these oil companies to bring development to the community, including the federal government, State government down to the Local government. They are the people that will look into these oil Producing Companies that are supposed to bring development to our community, he added.
“It is part of my appeal to the government to build schools for us, build a portable Drinking Water for us, So that we can have drinkable water here. We need the government to build a health Centre for us, and make Provision of Electricity in our community.
However, the Eweregbene Community cried out to the Delta State and federal governments to provide a good Health centre, School, Clean water and Electricity in the community.
According to the chairman, the Eweregbene is a well populated community and an oil producing community in Warri South West Local Government Area but does not have any government School, Health centre, Electricity and Clean water despite being an oil producing community and host community to oil companies and its environs.
Meantime, the people of Eweregbene Community stated that all efforts and pleas to the companies and the government were given deaf ears.
They called on the state and federal governments for quick intervention.
The community chairman stated, “This body is working under the governing body of this Eweregbene community, they are working under me, they will send all information to me, any information that they have they will pass it through to me”.
