CSO group urges police to provide good security measures for “End Hunger/End Bad Governance” Protest in Delta

By Stephen Asaba-ase
The Conference for the Actualisation of Human Rights (CAHR), a Delta-based civil society organization, has announced its support for the planned nationwide protest, “End Hunger/End Bad Governance,” scheduled for August 1-10. CAHR vows to provide legal and moral support to protesters demanding an end to hunger, bad governance, and protection of human rights.
At a press briefing, National Director Bar Maxwell Omemiroro Ogedegbe, emphasised the legal rights of citizens to protest, citing court judgments that established protesters do not need police permits to exercise their constitutional rights. He urged the government to maintain peace and provide a conducive environment for protesters.
CAHR demands the immediate reversal of fuel subsidy removal, implementation of policies to address hunger and poverty, protection of human rights and civil liberties, and accountability and transparency in governance.
The organization called on all Nigerians to join the protest and demand their rights, stating that together, they can build a better Nigeria.
