Defamation: Bizwoman Yeldu Sues Facebook, Others In Kano FHC

A businesswoman who lives in Kano, simply identified as Safiya Umar Yeldu has dragged Facebook International Services Nigeria Limited; Zara Onyinye and Adefemi Kendat before a Federal High Court in Kano, over alleged malicious post and defamation.
The suit no: FHC/KN/CS/210/2023, was heard on Friday 14th July, 2023, under His Lordship, Hon. Justice S. A Amobeda ( Judge).
According to a copy of the Court document made available to newsmen on Saturday, the applicant, Safiya Umar Yeldu sued the 1st to 3rd respondents over a post considered totally falsehood, malicious and defamation of the applicant’s character.
The applicant’s motion Exparte dated 12th July 2023 and case filed on 13th July 2023, she prayed the Court for an Order directing the 1st Respondent (Facebook) to immediately remove the post made by the 2nd and 3rd respondents against the applicant from its media circulation being an infringement of her right to privacy.
Yeldu is also seeking the Court for an Order directing the 1st Respondent, Facebook to unveil the identity and addresses of the 2nd Respondent, Zara Onyinye; and the 3rd Respondent, Adefemi Kendat for the instituted suit.
The applicant further asked the court for an Order of injunction restraining the Respondents by themselves, their servants, agents and privies of whatsoever from the further posting of the applicant’s privacy.
