Delta Police Arrest Additional Suspects in Murder Case Following Coordinated Raids
By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two additional suspects linked to the murder of 31-year-old Alex Adanike, following intensified raids on criminal hideouts across Ughelli and Warri areas of the state.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Command disclosed that the arrests were made during a targeted operation led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities and dismantle organized gangs within the state.
The case dates back to January 20, 2026, when members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger, allegedly attacked and killed Alex Adanike in Agbhara-Otor Community. The victim was reportedly mistaken for his twin brother during the brutal incident, which involved both shooting and stabbing.
Earlier investigations had led to the arrest of two suspects, Warri Ochuko and Lucky Okohwoake, who both confessed to their involvement in the crime.
According to the police, the latest operation resulted in the apprehension of two more suspects identified as Tega Micheal, 26, and Tena Sagbene, 32, both residents of Ughelli. The newly arrested individuals were reportedly identified by the suspects already in custody as members of the same gang responsible for the killing.
Police authorities confirmed that all four suspects have confessed to the crime and were arraigned before the Ughelli High Court on March 31, 2026. They have since been remanded in prison custody pending further legal proceedings.
The Command reiterated the importance of proactive policing strategies, including intelligence gathering, coordinated raids, and stop-and-search operations. It noted that such measures are critical not only for the swift apprehension of suspects but also for preventing crime and maintaining public safety.
Commending the efforts of officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police praised their dedication to combating crime and taking decisive action against criminal elements. He further urged residents of Delta State to remain law-abiding and uphold the rule of law.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, on behalf of the Delta State Command in Asaba.
