The Delta State Police Command has successfully dismantled a dangerous syndicate involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and cult-related violence, following a series of coordinated operations across the state. The operation, led by the Eagle Net Special Squad and the CP-Special Assignment Team, resulted in multiple arrests, the recovery of firearms, and stolen property.

In the first operation, on 23rd November, 2025, police responded to a distress call about a robbery along the Asaba–Benin Expressway near the Dustbin/Mango Tree area. The gang reportedly ambushed police operatives with gunfire, prompting a high-stakes chase. Three suspects Oghenemaro Martins age 25, Tarebi Miracle Ogbada age 22, and Okorie James Kalu age 19 were arrested after abandoning a black bag containing incriminating evidence. Among the recovered items were an English made Beretta pistol, a locally made pistol, four live 9mm Beretta ammunition, laptops, smartphones, a PS5 game console, and jewellery, all traced back to previous armed robberies in the Okpanam–Asaba axis.

In a separate operation targeting cult-related crime, Delta State police arrested three confessed members of the Aye Confraternity on 24th November. The suspects Miracle Umukoro age 52, Mudiaga Ukavwe age 31, and Solomon Oghoro, also known as Spartan age 30, were apprehended in Sapele and Oghara. The police recovered a pump-action gun, six live cartridges, a cutlass, and a Toyota Sienna vehicle reportedly used for cult activities and surveillance.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the operatives for their courage and precision, reiterating the command’s zero tolerance for armed robbery, kidnapping, and violent crime. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity through the nearest police station or via the command’s control room at 08036684974.

These decisive actions demonstrate the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and dismantling criminal networks operating within the state.
