The Delta State Police Command has made significant progress in its ongoing offensive against criminal gangs in Oghara, following the arrest of two additional suspects and the recovery of a sophisticated AK-47 rifle fitted with a double magazine. The breakthrough was achieved by the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, as part of intensified operations targeting cult groups and armed robbery networks in the region.

According to the Command, the latest development builds on an earlier operation carried out on November 24, 2025, where confessed cultists were arrested and a pump-action gun alongside other incriminating exhibits was recovered. Acting on fresh intelligence, CP-SAT expanded its surveillance and executed multiple coordinated raids across strategic points in Oghara. During the follow-up operation on November 25, operatives arrested two men believed to be connected to the criminal syndicate: 38-year-old Justice Ikutu and 55-year-old Peter Okomeje. Both suspects were apprehended at different hotspots within the town.

A search conducted at the residence of another suspect, identified as Peter Kome, led to the discovery of an AK-47 rifle equipped with a double magazine, as well as additional items linked to ongoing investigations into cult activities and armed robbery operations. Police say the arrests and recovery of the firearm mark another major step toward dismantling the network of criminal elements operating in the area. All suspects are currently in custody as security operatives intensify efforts to track down other members of the gang.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the swift and coordinated efforts of the CP-SAT team, describing the operation as a testament to the Command’s renewed commitment to tackling crime across the state. He called on residents to remain vigilant and continue offering credible intelligence that can support ongoing efforts to keep Delta State safe.
