By Chukwunonso Eric, Warri.
The Delta State Police Command has assured residents of the state of adequate security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, disclosed that strategic deployment of personnel has been ordered across the state to ensure a peaceful celebration scheduled for March 19 and 20, 2026.
The Police Commissioner stated that comprehensive security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property, as well as ensure the free flow of traffic during the festive period.
According to him, the Command has deployed a robust operational framework comprising conventional police personnel, tactical units, and other security assets to all designated Eid prayer grounds and other critical locations across Delta State.
He, however, issued a stern warning to criminal elements, including cultists and other mischief-makers, to desist from unlawful activities, stressing that the Command remains fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace.
The CP further directed Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence-led operations targeting criminal hideouts and identified black spots across the state.
He added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been mandated to ensure effective coordination and supervision of all security deployments before, during, and after the celebrations.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and vigilant, encouraging residents to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
While extending goodwill, CP Adesola, on behalf of the officers and men of the Command, wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe.
