Delta Police Smash Major Arms Syndicate, Arrest Female Courier and Ammunition Dealer in Warri
By Diafa Doubra,
The Delta State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained war against crime and illegal arms trafficking, with the arrest of a suspected female courier and a notorious ammunition peddler in Warri.

Acting on credible intelligence from the Force Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU), Abuja, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson apprehended a woman identified as Jamila Abubakar, at the Conoil Filling Station along the Warri–Patani Road, Effurun. During a search, officers found ₦550,000 concealed in her bag, suspected to be proceeds from illegal arms transactions. Her arrest led to a swift follow-up operation that uncovered a wider criminal network.
In a continuation of the operation, the police raided the Niger-Cat area of Warri, where they arrested Ahmed Ibrahim, a 31-year-old suspected arms dealer from Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area. The search of his residence led to the recovery of 115 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, 220 rounds of SMG ammunition, and 32 live cartridges. Investigations revealed that Ibrahim is a key supplier of weapons to bandit groups in northern Nigeria and has been linked to several high-profile kidnapping and armed robbery cases. Police sources also connected him to the kidnap and murder of one Ogheneovo Onemu in Ughelli North, despite the payment of a ₦4 million ransom.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, hailed the successful operation as a strong demonstration of the Command’s commitment to eradicating crime and cutting off illegal arms supply chains. He assured residents that the police will continue to dismantle criminal syndicates operating within the state, while urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. The CP reaffirmed that the Delta State Police Command remains resolute in protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding citizens.
