Digital Professional Fair Sets to Empower 10,000 Youths in Lagos

Over 10,000 young Nigerians were projected to benefit from the maiden edition of the Digital Professional Fair (DPF), which was scheduled to take place from August 6 to 8 in Lagos.
The three-day event was designed to serve as a central gathering for emerging talents, freelancers, and established professionals across the digital industry. The fair aimed to provide participants with relevant skills, industry exposure, and career opportunities.
While addressing journalists at a pre-event press briefing, the Convener of the fair, Tutu Adetunmbi, described the event as more than just a conference, but a movement to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity in the digital space.
“This initiative was intended to connect talent in Lagos and across Africa to real opportunities,” Adetunmbi stated. “The digital economy was no longer the future, it had become the present. Africa’s talent needed to be empowered, recognised, and positioned for global relevance.”
She revealed that over 3,000 sign-ups had been recorded ahead of the fair, with an estimated 1,500 attendees expected daily. Both physical and virtual attendance were projected to reach 10,000 participants in total.
The first day of the fair, themed “The Digital Career Kickstart,” was tailored to youths aged 18 to 24, with a focus on students, fresh graduates, and aspiring digital creatives. The session was designed to offer career guidance, foundational skills, certification support, and access to internship and employment opportunities.
The second day targeted freelancers and early-stage entrepreneurs between the ages of 25 and 30. The segment addressed the challenges faced by freelancers, small business owners, and solopreneurs operating in the digital economy.
The final day of the event focused on Scaling and Global Expansion, targeting professionals and digital business owners aged 30 and above. Discussions were expected to centre on strategies for growth, sustainability, and international market penetration.
The Digital Professional Fair was positioned as a platform for skills acquisition, collaboration, and career advancement within Nigeria’s growing digital landscape.
