Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has opened up about his long silence in Nigeria’s political space, revealing that his decision was deliberate as he focused on achieving a major academic milestone.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s “Prime Time”, Melaye said he intentionally stepped away from public discourse to concentrate fully on his studies.

“I have been quiet because I was in school. I did not want Nigeria to happen to me. I needed them to let me graduate,” he explained.

Melaye, who was once known for his fiery speeches and political activism, disclosed that his dedication has now paid off as he recently graduated and was officially called to the Nigerian Bar, proudly joining what he described as “the largest bar in Africa.”

The former lawmaker noted that his silence should not be mistaken for withdrawal from national affairs, but rather as a strategic decision to avoid distractions while pursuing his academic goals.

His latest achievement marks a significant personal transformation, shifting his identity from politician to legal practitioner. Observers say this could open a new chapter in his career, possibly blending his legal expertise with his long-standing political engagements.
