By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
The Governor of Bayelsa state, Douye Diri, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, handed over the newly built Finance building to the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, as a temporary office.
During the handover, the state governor thanked Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, for displaying his nationalism to the people of the Niger Delta region.
Diri explained that the new building was designed and tagged as the building meant for the Ministry of Finance and it was completed on time.
He narrated that while the Ministry of Finance was warming up to relocate to the new building, the governor said that he received a message from NUPRC requesting an office space for an alternative Dispute Resolution centre, to be established in Bayelsa state, Yenagoa, which was proposed to centre in Lagos.
“When Tompolo heard about the development, he moved a motion towards relocating the ADRC to the Niger Delta region where the dispute was originating.”
However, Governor Diri maintained that on behalf of the Government and the good people of Bayelsa state, he hands over the Finance office to ADCR temporarily.
