Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a man suspected to be a major arms supplier to armed groups operating in Plateau State and other parts of northern Nigeria.

The suspect, identified as Musa Abubakar, was apprehended on 12 November 2025 following what officials described as precise and credible intelligence. A DSS source said Abubakar allegedly confessed to manufacturing and distributing high-calibre weapons and ammunition to groups involved in violent attacks across Plateau and neighbouring regions.

His arrest came after a targeted raid on an arms-manufacturing workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State. According to security sources, Abubakar was caught in possession of various Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, chemicals and fabrication tools, all of which were seized by operatives.

The development follows the recent recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, a Kuje Prison escapee linked to the Owo and Deeper Life Church attacks.

The DSS says these breakthroughs reflect its renewed commitment to tackling terrorism and enhancing national security.

It will be recalled that the agency recently arrested nine high-profile suspects connected to attacks in Plateau and Benue States, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol of First Baptist Church, Mangu LGA, who has pleaded guilty to two of four counts, including illegal possession of firearms, in case number FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.
