The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu places education at the heart of his administration’s development agenda. Akume described education as the cornerstone of Tinubu’s policies, stressing that no nation can achieve sustainable growth without a well-educated population.

Speaking during an event in Abuja, the SGF noted that the federal government is committed to creating policies that will expand access to quality education, modernize learning facilities, and provide opportunities for both teachers and students to thrive. He explained that Tinubu’s administration views education as a key driver of national prosperity and a powerful tool in tackling poverty, unemployment, and insecurity.

Akume also emphasized that the government is determined to address the long standing challenges in the education sector, including inadequate funding, infrastructural decay, and poor teacher welfare. According to him, ongoing reforms will not only focus on primary and secondary education but also on technical and vocational training to equip young Nigerians with practical skills needed for the 21st-century economy.

He called on state governments, private institutions, and stakeholders in the education sector to work hand in hand with the federal government in order to achieve the desired transformation. “This is not a task for government alone. If we want to see real change in our schools and universities, collaboration is key,” he said.

Akume reassured Nigerians that despite economic challenges, President Tinubu’s administration is determined to make education a priority because “an investment in education is an investment in the nation’s future.”
