The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, wanted over his alleged involvement in a $14.8 million fraud case.

According to the anti-graft agency, Sylva is being investigated for conspiracy and dishonest conversion of public funds meant for a refinery construction project initiated under the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

A statement from the EFCC on Monday revealed that the declaration followed a warrant of arrest issued by the Lagos State High Court. The commission alleged that Sylva and his associates diverted funds earmarked for critical oil and gas development projects, causing huge financial losses to the federal government.

Efforts to locate the former governor have reportedly been unsuccessful, as he has allegedly evaded arrest despite multiple invitations. The EFCC has urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
