Egbetokun Assumes Duty As 22nd Inspector General of Police

As the former Inspector General of Police, Akali Baba, retired from service, Ag.IGP Egbetokun Olukayode, has on 21st June, 2023 assumed duty as the Inspector General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
This is according to a statement signed by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer.
Recall, Egbetokun was appointed as the IGP by the executive president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on 19th June, 2023.
He hails from Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He was commissioned into the Nigeria Police in 1990 as a member of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police Course 16 from Nigeria Police Academy.
The Handing over of the leadership between the former and the new Police Chief was held in a brief but colourful ceremony at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, the nation capital.
However, the new Inspector General of Police, appreciated the president, and the Commander in Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the confidence reposed in him stressing that the appointment is a commitment.
