The Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Forum has expressed strong confidence in Chief Dennis Otuaro’s leadership of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, praising his efforts to revive and reposition the programme.

In a statement by its national chairman, Gen Godstime Ogidiga, the forum noted that Otuaro has implemented reforms stabilizing peace in the Niger Delta region through stakeholders engagement, scholarship awards, youth empowerment, and women’s initiatives.

The forum’s Key achievements include Expanding scholarships to over 5,000 Niger Delta students in local and international universities, up from fewer than 100 previously, Reviving the leadership training programme, training several batches of leaders across the region, Reviewing stipends, vocational training, and empowerment programmes.

The forum believed Otuaro was carefully selected by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the role and is delivering results. They urged him to continue prioritizing the Niger Delta region’s development.

The statement reads, “Chief Otuaro has implemented reforms and programmes that have helped stabilize the fragile peace in the Niger Delta region. Through community and stakeholder engagement, as well as youth and women empowerment initiatives, the programme has strengthened peace and development across the region.

“Education, which is key to grooming and building future leaders, had been neglected by previous administrators, leaving fewer than one hundred students on scholarship in Nigerian universities. However, within two years, Chief Otuaro has significantly expanded the initiative by sending over 5,000 Niger Delta students on scholarship to both local and international universities.

“It is also on record that previous administrations abandoned the blueprint of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and allegedly planned to scrap it. Upon assuming office, Chief Otuaro revived the leadership training programme and has since trained several batches of leaders across the Niger Delta.

“Furthermore, the forum noted that the review of stipends, vocational training, and empowerment programmes are currently in progress.

“With the remarkable performance of the Administrator, the forum stated that there is no doubt that Chief Dennis Otuaro was carefully selected by Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment and remains the right person for the job.

“On this note, the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Leaders Forum passes a vote of confidence in Chief Dennis Otuaro and urges him to continue delivering the dividends of the Presidential Amnesty Programme to the people of the Niger Delta region”.
