Ex-Governor Saraki Demands Swift Rescue of Kidnap Victims Following Eruku Attack
By Diafa Doubra, Warri
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has condemned the recent terrorist attack in Eruku, Kwara State, calling for urgent action to rescue the victims of abduction. Saraki expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in the region, stressing that such attacks are a threat not only to local communities but also to national security. He urged security agencies to act swiftly to ensure the safe return of those kidnapped during the violent raid.
Saraki criticized the apparent lack of preparedness and coordination among local authorities, describing it as a recurring pattern that leaves communities vulnerable. He called on the federal and state governments to strengthen intelligence operations and improve rapid response mechanisms to prevent future attacks. According to him, timely intervention could save lives and restore public confidence in the government’s ability to protect its citizens.
He also appealed to community leaders and residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information about the attackers’ movements. Saraki emphasized that a combined effort from all stakeholders is crucial to tackling the rising wave of kidnappings and banditry in Kwara State and beyond. His statement reflects growing frustration among former leaders and civil society groups over the persistent insecurity in northern and central Nigeria.
