Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Osagie Destiny Etinosa for allegedly defrauding a football aspirant of ₦11 million.

The suspect, who operated under the Instagram handle @officialking_etto, reportedly posed as a football agent who specialised in linking players with foreign clubs for trials and recruitment opportunities.

According to the EFCC, Etinosa allegedly collected ₦11 million from Samuel Beke Ohazuruike after promising to secure football trials for him with clubs abroad. However, the promised opportunities never materialized, and attempts by the victim to recover his money were unsuccessful.

“In one instant case, Etinosa allegedly collected the sum of N11,000,000 from one Samuel Beke Ohazuruike with the promise of securing trials for him in Romanian and Bulgarian clubs which never materialized,” the EFCC said.

The anti-graft agency disclosed that the suspect was apprehended following an open-source intelligence investigation. He is expected to be arraigned in court soon.
