The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA), has commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his “exemplary leadership” and commitment to their welfare.

In a letter dated 15th January 2026, the association’s President, Dr George Ebong, and General Secretary, Dr Yusuf Israel Lissa, expressed gratitude for two key financial interventions: the full payment of 13 months’ hazard allowance arrears and a month’s wage award.

The doctors stated that these payments address long-pending concerns about recognising health workers’ sacrifices. “This timely intervention underscores your dedication to equity, fairness, and recognition of the sacrifices made by doctors and other health workers in the FCTA,” the letter reads.

The association pledged to continue partnering with the FCT Administration, vowing to “remain committed to constructive engagement and collaboration in advancing the FCT health sector and ensuring quality healthcare services for the public.”

The letter also thanked other senior officials involved in facilitating the payments, including Minister of State for the FCT Dr Mariya Mahmoud and Acting Head of Service Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan.

This public commendation marks a notable moment of collaboration between the doctors and FCT leadership, potentially signalling improved industrial relations in the capital’s healthcare sector.
