FG as Dangote–NUPENG Clash Threatens Nationwide Fuel Strike

By Diafa Doubra,
The Federal Government has stepped into the ongoing dispute between the Dangote Group and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), which threatens to paralyze fuel distribution across the country. Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammadu Dingyadi, has summoned both parties to an emergency meeting in Abuja in a bid to avert a nationwide strike.
The face-off stems from disagreements over alleged unfair labour practices and welfare concerns raised by union members. NUPENG had earlier issued a warning that its members were prepared to shut down operations if their demands were ignored. With transporters already withdrawing services in solidarity, fears of fuel scarcity have heightened.
Dingyadi assured Nigerians that the government is committed to resolving the crisis amicably, stressing that dialogue remains the only way to prevent further disruption to the economy and daily life.
