The Federal Government has officially rolled out the National Land Registration, Documentation and Titling Programme, a reform designed to unlock an estimated $150 billion in dormant land capital across the country. The initiative, which focuses on digitizing land records, aims to give legal recognition to millions of properties currently without proper documentation, allowing them to be used as collateral for loans and investments.

According to government officials, the programme will not only boost access to credit for individuals and businesses but also improve urban planning, strengthen land ownership rights, and enhance building safety standards. By streamlining the registration process and reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, authorities believe the new system will stimulate economic growth, attract investors, and empower landowners to participate more actively in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
