FG Rakes in ₦5.21 Trillion From Oil Sales in First Half of 2025

The Federal Government has announced that it generated ₦5.21 trillion from crude oil, gas, and related petroleum products in the first half of 2025. According to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the revenue boost was driven by improved production levels, favorable global oil prices, and tighter monitoring of crude exports.
Industry analysts note that the strong earnings could provide a much needed cushion for Nigeria’s struggling economy, though concerns remain over how the funds will be managed. The government has pledged to channel part of the revenue into infrastructure, debt servicing, and social welfare programs, while also working to diversify the economy away from heavy dependence on oil.
