FG, state Governors and Media Forge Stronger Partnership for proper PHC Delivery across Nigeria

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s health system.

Also in attendance were Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, and the Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, who both endorsed the dialogue’s resolutions.

A statement by Kano state public relations officer of the ministry of health Nabilusi Abubakar said, Participants agreed for effective information dissemination and accurate media reportage are essential tools for promoting accountability and driving sustainable health sector reforms.

“They reiterated their commitment to strengthening intergovernmental collaboration and implementing actionable measures that will ensure equitable and accessible PHC services across Nigeria. The statement noted.

“A High-Level Health Media Dialogue has convened key representatives from the Federal and State Governments, along with media executives across the country, to strengthen collaboration and sustain advocacy for improved Primary Health Care (PHC) delivery and better health outcomes nationwide. Nabilusi Abubakar said.

The engagement served as a strategic platform to bridge communication gaps between policymakers and the media while fostering joint efforts toward a healthier population.

The dialogue focused on developing practical strategies to enhance health care financing, transparency, and accountability in alignment with national priorities and global health targets.

In his remarks, Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, highlighted the State Government’s unwavering commitment in advancing quality health care delivery at the grassroots level.

The health commissioner further explained that, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has intensified investments in the revitalization of Primary Health Care facilities, recruitment and training of health personnel and expansion of essential health services—particularly for women and children.

Dr. Yusuf further noted that Kano State has made notable progress in routine immunization, maternal and child health programs, and disease prevention and control initiatives, while strengthening community participation to ensure sustainability.

He emphasized that these actions align with the Federal Government’s reform agenda and reaffirm the State’s determination to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all residents.

The dialogue concluded with a shared commitment from all stakeholders to sustain media-health sector collaboration as a crucial driver of policy advocacy, public engagement, and transparent health governance.

Participants resolved to continue working collectively to amplify health messages, improve accountability, and promote better health outcomes for every Nigerian.
