Health authorities in Adamawa State have confirmed a resurgence of a rare flesh-eating bacterial disease that has left at least 23 people hospitalized in Malabu, a community in Fufore Local Government Area. The outbreak, which has caused panic among residents, is said to have started earlier this week when several individuals developed severe skin lesions and tissue decay.

Local health workers, backed by officials from the state Ministry of Health, have since been deployed to the area to contain the spread of the infection. Medical sources say the disease—believed to be necrotizing fasciitis—spreads rapidly and requires immediate medical attention to prevent fatalities.

Residents have been advised to maintain good hygiene and report any unusual skin infections promptly. Meanwhile, the Adamawa State government has pledged to strengthen surveillance and ensure that affected victims receive adequate medical care.
