Flying Eagles Edge Saudi Arabia in Five-Goal Thriller

By Diafa Doubra,
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles showcased resilience and attacking flair as they defeated Saudi Arabia 3–2 in an entertaining encounter ahead of the 2025 U-20 World Cup. The match, played at a packed stadium in Saudi Arabia, served as part of the team’s build-up to the global tournament.
The Saudis drew first blood early in the game, capitalizing on a defensive error to take a 1–0 lead. However, the Flying Eagles responded almost immediately through Salisu Mohammed, who converted a fine cross from the right flank to level the score.
Moments later, Nigeria took control of the match when Daniel Daga fired in a long-range effort to make it 2–1 before halftime. The Saudis equalized in the second half, but the Flying Eagles sealed victory with a decisive goal from Abdullahi Adams, who calmly slotted home after a quick counterattack.
Head Coach Ladan Bosso praised his players for their fighting spirit, saying the match was a good test of character and preparation for the World Cup.
“We showed determination and the hunger to win,” Bosso said after the match. “There’s still room for improvement, but I’m proud of the team’s progress so far.”
The victory boosts the Flying Eagles’ morale as they continue their training camp, with more international friendlies lined up before the global tournament kicks off.
