Tension has continued to heighten in the middle East over Russia and Ukraine crisis.
In the past week, Russia captured approximately 158 km² (61 mi²) of Ukrainian territory, three times more than the previous week—bringing cumulative gains since Feb 2022 to around 72,347 km² (27,917 mi²), roughly 12% of Ukraine

Foreign Newspapers accounts said On July 18–19, Russia launched roughly 215 Shahed drones , downing 185, along with missiles (Iskander-M, Kh-101), targeting military and critical infrastructure hubs in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytskyi Institute for the Study.

It was also reported that on July 21, an overnight barrage of 426 drones and 24 missiles resulted in 2 deaths and 15 injuries, with damage to homes, a kindergarten and subway infrastructure.

Furthermore, this conflict continued as a grinding war of attrition. Ukraine held key defensive positions and retained Western backing, but Russia’s drone production and offensive capability were increasing. The war’s near-term trajectory hinged on the rate of Western military support, Ukraine’s resilience, and the possibility of a breakthrough in diplomacy.
