Residents of Akwanga in Nasarawa State are crying out for help after being allegedly defrauded of over ₦3 million by a woman trader, Rufiat Aliyu, who promised to supply them with NAPEP tricycles.

The victims, including Suleiman Adamu and Abubakar Mahmoud, claim that Aliyu collected ₦1.9 million and ₦1.7 million, respectively, but failed to deliver the tricycles or refund their money.

According to Suleiman Adamu, Aliyu approached him with an offer to sell NAPEP tricycles, and he paid her ₦1.9 million. However, when he realized he had been deceived, he reported the matter to a court in Keffi.

Although Aliyu was arrested, she was later granted bail, and the case was allegedly transferred from Akwanga to Mararaba, with no further updates.

Abubakar Mahmoud, a resident of Keffi, also fell victim to Aliyu’s scheme, losing ₦1.7 million. He expressed concern over the prolonged delay in the case, alleging collaboration between Aliyu and some judicial officials, which has stalled justice.

The victims are appealing to the Nasarawa State Governor and the Commissioner of Police to intervene and help them recover their money.

They claim that the incident has plunged them into serious financial hardship, noting that the money involved was earned through years of hard work.

The Nasarawa State Police Command has been known to take action against similar cases, such as the recent arrest of six suspects involved in a child trafficking syndicate that sold an 8-year-old boy for ₦3 million.
