By Micheal Chukwuebuka
Following regulatory approval, Value Jet Airlines is set to launch passenger services at the Gateway International Airport (GWI), Ogun State, from Thursday, 7 October, with two flights scheduled weekly.
The development follows regulatory approval for the newly commissioned airport, which has been described as a state-of-the-art facility.
According to the published schedule, Value Jet will operate flights on the GWI–Abuja route every Tuesday and Thursday. The outbound flight will depart Gateway International Airport at 8:30 a.m. and arrive at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 9:45 a.m. The return service will leave Abuja at 4:00 p.m., landing back in Ogun State at 5:15 p.m.
The airline confirmed in a statement that tickets will be available for purchase from Thursday, 25 September, via its online platform, accredited travel agents, and ticketing desks at Gateway International Airport.
The launch is expected to boost connectivity for travellers based in Ogun, Ibadan, Lagos and Abuja, offering a convenient alternative to access Abuja and beyond while enjoying the modern facilities at GWI.
Business leaders, industrialists, contractors, bankers, government officials and leisure travellers are said to be particularly enthusiastic about the new service, noting that the airport’s location offers easy onward connections to Lagos and other regions of the country.
The Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the Ogun State Government, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, in a signed statement, described the development as “a milestone in enhancing air travel access and positioning Ogun as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation sector.”
