Gbaramatu Female Graduates Laud Ikantu Community For Reaffirming Their Ancestry

By Osaro Michael, Benin
The Association of Gbaramatu Female Graduates has commended the courageous and historic decision of the Ikantu community to reaffirm their ancestral roots and renew their total loyalty and allegiance to the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, its President, Mrs. Gloria Otutufegha, urged other descendants of Oweizibri to follow suit and accept the hand of love and fellowship extended by the good people of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
“We once again call on all mothers not to relent in preaching the gospel of peace,” Mrs. Otutufegha emphasized.
The Association also commended Tantita Security Services for employing several thousands of Itsekiri elders and youths. This inclusive gesture, they noted, is a commendable step toward ethnic harmony and collaboration within the Niger Delta region.
Meantime, the Association voiced concerns over reports indicating that the Olu of Itsekiri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, allegedly owns Pipelines Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL)—a company holding a major surveillance contract in the Trans-Forcados Pipeline network. Despite the scale and strategic significance of this contract, its socio-economic benefits remain largely unfelt by the broader Niger Delta populace, particularly in areas of employment, community development, and economic empowerment.
The Association called for a more equitable and transparent framework that ensures fair representation and tangible benefits for all ethnic nationalities and communities in the Niger Delta in the execution of oil-related contracts and development initiatives.
However, the Association condemned the growing trend of name-calling and the disparagement of respected leaders. It urged all stakeholders to embrace respectful dialogue and foster unity among the diverse ethnic groups within the region.
