Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has sworn in 23 newly elected local government chairmen today at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

This ceremony follows the issuance of certificates of return to the chairmen-elect by Adolphus Enebeli, Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.

In a surprising turn of events, the Action Alliance (AA) party secured 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions in the state, with Hon. Uzodinma Nwafor won the chairmanship election for Etche Local Government Area. This outcome indicates a significant victory for the AA party in the Rivers State local government polls.

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission described the election as free, fair, and credible, despite initial concerns and controversies surrounding the poll.
