Presidential poll: Gov Okowa loses Delta to Obi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday declared the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, as the winner of last Saturday’s presidential election held in Delta State.
It was gathered the governor of Delta state Senator Ifeanyi Okowa who doubled as the vice presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, lost his home state to the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi at the Saturday’s presidential election.
The State Presidential Election Collation Officer, Prof. Owunari Abraham Georgewill, mad the announcement at the collation centre in INEC State Head Office in Asaba on Tuesday.
The collation officer Georgewill from the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, announced the results after the collation of results from the 25 local government councils in the state.
According to him, the LP candidate, Peter Obi, polled 341,866 votes to defeat his major river, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, whose running mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, is the governor of Delta.
