GROUP LIFE ASSURANCE AND IGP FAMILY WELFARE SCHEME CP ABANIWONDA OLUFEMI PRESENTS CHEQUES TO FAMILIES OF DECEASED OFFICERS

On 12/8/2025, the commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, presented cheques of Thirty-seven million, six hundred and sixty-three thousand, nine hundred and thirty-six naira (#37,663,936) to thirty-five families of deceased officers who died while in active service. The cheques issued on behalf of the IGP are part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and Group Life Assurance.
The Commissioner of Police Delta State while presenting the cheques noted that the Nation and the Nigeria police force appreciates the sacrifices made by their loved once who served in the Nigeria Police force before their death, and also stated that the welfare of families of both serving and late officers are part of the interest of the Inspector General of Police, and it’s on his behalf that these cheques were presented to them.
He also appreciated the gesture by the IGP, as the cheques will in no small way act as a boost to the families and also a way of letting them know that, though their loved ones are no more, the Force did not forget their sacrifices.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Chidinma Paul, thanked the IGP for his magnanimity, noting that the money given to them will be used judiciously.
