Gunmen Attack Zamfara Mosque, Kill Five Worshippers and Kidnap Several Others

Tragedy struck in Zamfara State on Sunday as armed men stormed a mosque during early morning prayers, killing five worshippers and abducting several others. The attack occurred in Ruwan Jema community, located in Bukkuyum Local Government Area, throwing residents into mourning.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and opened fire indiscriminately before whisking away some of the worshippers. The victims were said to have been performing the dawn (Subh) prayers when the attackers invaded the mosque.
Confirming the incident, the Zamfara State Police Command described it as “unfortunate” and assured that security operatives had been deployed to track down the perpetrators. Police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar stated that a joint security team, including the military and vigilante groups, had launched a manhunt for the attackers.
Meanwhile, community leaders have appealed to the government to strengthen security presence in rural areas of the state, where residents have continued to face repeated bandit attacks.
