Gunmen Storm Patigi Village, Kill Police Officer and Vigilante in Deadly Raid
By Diafa Doubra, Warri
In a chilling late-night assault, unidentified terrorists launched a ferocious attack on Rogun Village in the Kpada District of Patigi Local Government Area, Kwara State, killing two security operatives.
According to a security source, the attackers struck a police outpost around midnight, engaging the officers in a fierce gunfight that lasted several minutes. By the time the gunfire subsided, one police constable and a local vigilante had been fatally shot.
Residents, gripped by panic, fled their homes into nearby bushes as the sound of gunfire echoed across the community.
Residents expressed concern over the strategic vulnerability of the area, noting that Rogun sits along a key route linking Patigi’s Kpada district to Isanlu in Kogi State, which has seen similar attacks. They called for the establishment of a military base in Koro to protect the community.
As of now, state authorities have not released an official statement. However, security operatives have reportedly been deployed to the area to restore calm and hunt down the assailants.
