Gusi Holds Annual Cultural Festival, Kadafur Donates N10 Million

The Gusi District in Kwaya Kusar Local Government Area of Borno State played host to the 2025 Gusi District Annual Cultural Festival (Tsuhur Laku), a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the people.

The event brought together indigenes of the district from home and abroad to foster peaceful coexistence, encourage community development, and promote youth participation.

Borno State Deputy Governor, Dr. Umar Usman Kadafur, who was represented by Hon. Ibrahim Babale, Member representing Kwaya Kusar in the State Assembly, commended the Gusi District for its efforts in promoting and sustaining the cultural heritage of the people.

“I am delighted to witness this year’s Gusi District Annual Cultural Festival. This event has been a source of pride for not only the Biu Emirate but Borno State as a whole,” Kadafur stated.

He added that Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s administration is committed to promoting, sustaining, and strengthening the cultural heritage of the state.

The Deputy Governor announced a donation of N10 million to the Gusi District Development Association to support its activities.

He stressed that the Zulum administration is not only focusing on security, rebuilding lives, and infrastructure development but also reviving and promoting the cultural values of the state.

The Emir of Biu, HRH Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, represented by the Birma of Biu, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Birma, praised the Association for promoting the district and advancing the interests of its people.

The royal father promised that the Emirate would continue to support the district and promote peaceful coexistence among its people.

The festival featured cultural dances by various groups, including the Gusi Cultural Troupe, Para Group Walama, Shelleng, and Yimirzalang, among others. There was also a display of various cultural and traditional artefacts from the district.

The event was attended by notable personalities, including Federal High Court Judge, Justice Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjuwa; Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Haruna Hassan Tela; Special Adviser on Media to the Borno State Governor, Dauda Iliya; and representatives of the Emir of Shani, among others.
