History May Not Forgive Everyone In Govt – Gbajabiamila

By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has stated that everyone in government positions run the risk of being harshly judged by history for the appalling state of the nation right now.
Gbajabiamila continued by saying that this has also caused a major exodus of Nigerian youths to other nations as they lost faith in their own.
The outgoing Speaker asserted that the executive and legislative branches of the government must move quickly to stop the enormous flight of intelligent youngsters to Europe and other parts of the world on Wednesday at a valedictory session planned for the Ninth House in Abuja.
Gbajabiamila said, “Honourable colleagues, despite the significant investments we have made to improve our public infrastructure and the numerous reforms we have enacted to change how we administer the government, our country faces many significant challenges.”
Gbajabiamila was speaking to his House of Representatives colleagues.”Many of our fellow citizens now ponder whether democracy’s promise will ever materialise in their lives as a result of these difficulties. Too many of our youth have completely lost faith and are making the decision in large numbers to go for their fortunes and futures in other countries.
“If we don’t take immediate action, the implications of this loss will soon become painfully obvious. We are losing some of our best and brightest brains.
“How can we guarantee a sound, thriving, expanding economy that offers chances for everyone who works hard to thrive via their labour and ingenuity? How can we defend our people from robbers and rebels, small-time offenders, and other bad guys who want to hurt them for money or other reasons? How do we win back the trust of our young people so that a large number of them no longer believe that the only way to fulfil their greatest ambitions is to seek their fortune in distant, frequently dangerous lands?
The outgoing Speaker maintained that these are the crucial questions that every member of government must respond to in order to avoid history’s harsh judgement.
