Hollywood Filmmaker, Wife Reportedly Stabbed to Death By Their Son in Los Angeles

Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were reportedly stabbed to death at their home in Los Angeles, with unconfirmed reports alleging their son was involved.

According to multiple sources who spoke to family members, the couple were killed by their son, Nick Reiner. However, police have not verified this account or released official details.

Two individuals believed to be Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead at a Los Angeles residence on Sunday, 14 December, according to unconfirmed reports cited by PEOPLE. Authorities have yet to formally identify the victims or confirm the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said emergency crews responded to a medical call at the property at about 3:30 p.m., where a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Sources familiar with the matter told PEOPLE the deceased were Reiner and his wife. Police have not provided further information.

The couple’s son, 32-year-old Nick Reiner, is reportedly alive and is being questioned by investigators. No arrests have been announced, and law enforcement has not publicly confirmed any allegations.

Rob Reiner is a celebrated director, producer and actor, best known for acclaimed films such as This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery and A Few Good Men. He first gained widespread recognition for his role as Mike Stivic in the television sitcom All in the Family. He is the son of the late comedy legend Carl Reiner.

Reiner married Michele Singer in 1989 after meeting during the production of When Harry Met Sally…. They had three children together. He was previously married to filmmaker and actress Penny Marshall, who died in 2018.

Investigations are continuing, and authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the deceased or the cause of death.
