In a recent interview with channels tv, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), sir Nyesome Wike, opened up about why he travels with his children, addressing questions that have drawn public attention.

When asked why he took his sons along with him to the UK and whether that was appropriate, he confidently responded, “what law said that my son shouldn’t travel with me?” he added, “it was not a personal trip and i can travel with anybody in nigeria, i have that right.”

On why he involves his children in his travels, Wike explained, “they have to know about Nigeria, they have to know about government, they have to know about the society.” when probed if he was grooming them for politics, he quickly dismissed the notion, saying, “no no no that’s not correct.”

Wike also shared insights into his children’s individual paths. His eldest, a trained lawyer, later chose to pursue farming, while his second son, who holds a Master’s in economics, expressed interest in real estate. “i have children who have given me comfort and not problem,” he said proudly.

He concluded the interview by highlighting the learning aspect of these trips: “my children travelled with me to learn, to see how the world is.”
